Calm Before The Storm?
A high speed solar wind stream flowing from a large Earth facing coronal hole is expected to reach Earth sometime within the next 24-36 hours. Once it does, Minor (G1) to Moderate (G2) geomagnetic storming will be possible. Aurora sky watchers from middle to high latitudes should be alert this weekend.

Large Coronal Hole to Face Earth
Good evening. Another long stretch without any personal updates as spaceweather has been very quiet. That is solar minimum for you.A large coronal hole (65) will begin to face Earth later this week and this should be the source of a high speed solar wind stream past Earth this upcoming weekend. A geomagnetic disturbance, possibly reaching storm levels will be possible at high latitudes. Perhaps some nice aurora in the works for sky watchers. More to follow. Image by SDO/AIA.
