CARS HQ to participate in the IARU HF Championship as C4HQ

C4HQ

After many years of inactivity, a number of CARS members will be activating the C4HQ callsign during the upcoming IARU HF Championship to be held during the second weekend of the month, 9-10 July 2022.

The CARS headquarter station will be comprised by about 8 operators dispersed all over the island, namely Paphos, Nicosia, Polis, and Avdimou. A couple of guest operators from HA & G lands will also take part. Norman 5B4AIE, and Philipp 5B4AQC are organizing the event, with some technical support from Andreas 5B8AP.

It’s worth mentioning that last time CARS took part in the IARU HF Championship with a Headquarter station was back in 2015, when the team was crowned World Champions and had set a new world record of 37,160,322 points in the HQ category! Considerable press coverage was also achieved back at the time, which proved to be a valuable promotion for amateur radio around the island.
